Running in New York City is an experience like no other, with its bustling streets, scenic parks, and iconic landmarks. Whether you’re training for a marathon, working on your endurance, or simply exploring the city on foot, finding the perfect long run route can be a game-changer. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce Coach Kelly’s favorite NYC Long Runs. This guide features curated routes ranging from 6 to 20 miles, designed to cater to runners of all levels and goals.
Our NYC Long Run routes take you through some of the city’s most picturesque and runner-friendly areas. From the lush greenery of Central Park to the waterfront views along the Hudson River Greenway, each route offers a unique blend of scenery and challenge. We’ve carefully mapped out each course to ensure you get the most out of your long runs, whether you prefer the tranquility of Prospect Park or the dynamic energy of the Brooklyn Bridge. With detailed descriptions, mile markers, and tips for each route, you’ll be well-prepared to tackle your training with confidence.

West Side Out and Back
This 6-mile out and back route has you starting at the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. From there, you’re headed to the west side highway where you’ll run to Chelsea Piers before turning around and ending in Battery Park City.
Union Square to Domino Park
This 10K Route starts in Union Square, sends you down the west side highway before cutting across the island to the Williamsburg Bridge and ending in Domino Park
Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Bridge Park 10K
This 10K starts you on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. From there, you'll head over the bridge and the long way down Jay street into Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park. You'll run the park & piers before heading back through the park the way you came. (Plenty of bathrooms and water fountains in Brooklyn Bridge Park.) Then, you'll finish with plenty of restraunts and bars to hang in.
Bridges For Breakfast
This route has you starting and ending on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. From there, you'll head over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn before heading around the Navy Yard (need a bathroom or a water refill? This is your place!) and into Williamsburg. From there, you'll go up and over the Williamsburg Bridge, back into Manhattan, and back down to the Brooklyn Bridge.
Manhattan Bridge To Red Hook, ending In Brooklyn Bridge Park
This route has you starting and ending on the Manhattan side of the Manhattan Bridge. From there, you'll head over the Manhattan Bridge into Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park down Jay St. You'll run through Brooklyn Bridge Park (need a bathroom or a water refill? This is your place!) running the piers before heading around Columbia Waterfront and into Red Hook. You'll run to Louis Valentino, Jr. Park and Pier where you'll wave to Lady Liberty before turning around and heading back to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Barclays to Manhattan Fun Run Loop
This route has you starting and ending at Barclays Center. From there, you'll head down Flatbush to the Manhattan Bridge, into Chinatown, around the courts to the Brooklyn Bridge and down to Dumbo. From there, you'll run Brooklyn Bridge Park (pick 1 pier to run. Want to run 9 miles? Run all the piers) before heading back to Barclays Center up Bergen.
Williamsburg Bridge to Queens Out and Back
For this fun out and back, you'll start on the Manhattan side of the Williamsburg bridge, down to domino park, through Williamsburg along the bike path to Greenpoint and then up and over the Pulaski bridge. Then, you'll turn around and run back the way you came through Greenpoint and Williamsburg. On the way back, cut through Bushwick Inlet Park and run along the water back to to Domino Park. Westside Highway Out and Back 10-Miler
This route has you starting at the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. From there, you'll head over to the West Side Highway where you'll run up the Hudson (running all the Piers) to the Frying Pan. There, you'll turn around and run back the way you came ending outside of Brookfield Place in Battery Park City.
Brooklyn Running Company 10.5 mile route
This route has you starting at Brooklyn Running Company (or Barclays). From there, you'll head down Flatbush, over the Manhattan Bridge, through Chinatown and up towards the Williamsburg Bridge. You'll run over the Williamsburg Bridge, down and around the Navy Yard, back up to Brooklyn Running Company (or Barclays).
Last 10 Miles Of The NYC Marathon Route
Looking to run the final 10.2 miles of the NYC Marathon? You'll start at the bottom of the Queensboro bridge, run up 1st Ave and into the Bronx. Through the Bronx, over the last damn bridge, into Harlem, back into Manhattan and up the 5th Avenue climb. Then, you'll enter Central Park, head onto Central Park South, back into Central Park before finishing in front of Tavern on the Green.

Union Square, 3 Bridges, and Domino Park
Ready to crush some bridges? This run will start you in Union Square and run you over to Domino Park. From Union Square, you'll head over the West Side Highway. You'll run all the way around the tip of the island (waving to lady Liberty in Battery Park) before heading up to the Brooklyn Bridge through the Seaport. You'll over into Brooklyn, cutting straight over to the Manhattan Bridge. You'll run up and over the Manhattan Bridge before making your way over to the Williamsburg Bridge. From there, you'll run up and over the Williamsburg Bridge ending in Domino Park.
12 Mile Williamsburg Bridge to Central Park
This 12-mile route has you running 2 bridges and ending in Columbus Circle with as few lights and protected lanes as humanly possible. You'll start on the Manhattan side of the Williamsburg bridge before heading down to Domino Park, into Greenpoint, over the Polaski through Queens over to the Queensboro Bridge. You'll head up and over the bridge and then to Central Park. You'll do the loop before jumping around the reservoir and heading back to Columbus Circle.
13 ish mile Central Park to the little red light house
Lots of variety for this 13.5 ish mile out and back. Starting and ending in Columbus Circle, you're heading straight to the west side highway where you'll run all the way up to the little red light house and back.
West Side to Columbus Circle 13.1 mile long run
Looking to run 13.1 and hit 3 bridges along the way? This running route kicks off on the West Side Highway near pier 84. You'll head downtown before cutting across the island towards the Williamsburg bridge. From there, you'll head through Williamsburg, into Greenpoint, over the Polaski bridge (BABY BRIDGE!), through Long Island City and up over the Queensboro bridge. From there, you'll head straight across Manhattan ending in Columbus Circle.
Queensboro Bridge to prospect park
This Half Marathon route runs you from Manhattan to Brooklyn. You'll start on the Manhattan side of the Queensboro bridge. From there, you'll head through Long Island City, over the Polaski bridge (BABY BRIDGE!), through Greenpoint and Williamsburg, around the Navy Yard before cutting through Clinton Hill to Grand Army Plaza. From there, you'll head down an out and back along Eastern Parkway before ending back at the Grand Army entrance to Prospect Park.
Manhattan to Brooklyn Half Marathon
13.1 miles in NYC on protected sidewalks with plenty of bathrooms and water fountains. That's what this route is all about!
You'll start on the West Side Highway and run straight down and around the island. Once you get to the Seaport, you'll head up to the Brooklyn Bridge and over to Brooklyn. Once over the Brooklyn Bridge, you'll head through Instagram alley and into Brooklyn Bridge Park. There, you'll do an out and back running the piers both ways before ending with a beautiful view of NYC.
14 mile Queensboro Loop
This 14 mile NYC loop starts on the Manhattan side of the Queensboro Bridge. From there, you'll head over the bridge, through Long Island City, over the Polaski bridge, through Greenpoint and Williamsburg along protected sidewalks, up and over the Williamsburg bridge, through Manhattan towards the west side highway. Then, you'll run up the west side before cutting across and back along the park before ending at the subway station near where you started.
Prospect Park to Two Bridges 14 Miler
Looking to stay in Brooklyn for a 14 miler? After a loop of Prospect Park, you'll head down Union before cutting down Court Street towards Red Hook. You'll wave at the Red Hook Track that the city is allegedly fixing, around Ikea, down to the pier where you'll wave at Lady Liberty before heading towards Columbia Waterfront and Brooklyn Bridge Park. You'll run through the park (no piers) and head up Washington (Instagram alley) to the Brooklyn Bridge using the pedestrian stairs. After crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, you'll cut through Chinatown and finish running back over the Manhattan Bridge.
Central Park to the Little Red Light House 15 Miler
Looking for a fun uptown 15-mile route? You'll start in Columbus Circle before running the East side of the loop. You'll cut across the 102nd street transverse (skipping Harlem Hill) before exiting the park at 100th street and heading towards the Hudson River Greenway cutting through Riverside Park. You'll head all the way up to the Little Red Lighthouse, turn around and head back down the Hudson River Greenway until 59th street. There, you'll cut across the city and end back in Columbus Circle.
16-Miler Little Red Light House to Tip Of Manhattan
This route has you starting in the Bronx at the 181st A Line. From there you'll head down to the Little Red Light House! Grab a pic and then you're heading down the Hudson River! You'll run all the piers along the way until you end with a gorgeous view of Lady Liberty!
16 miles in nyc
This 16 miler kicks off on the Manhattan side of the Williamsburg bridge. You'll head up and over the bridge, backtrack to Grand and down to Domino Park. You'll run through Domino Park towards the Navy Yard, around the Navy yard and towards Dumbo. Once in Dumbo, head towards Brooklyn Bridge Park. There, you'll run an out and back, including the piers. You'll head towards Jane's Carousel before heading up Washington (aka Instagram alley) and up the stairs to the Brooklyn Bridge. You'll head over the Brooklyn bridge, into Manhattan, cut across the island to the West Side Highway and up to 59th street. There, you'll cut back across the island and end in the Center of Central Park South.
Modified Broad City Challenge
This modified Broad City Challenge takes you from the top of the island to the bottom. You’ll see the little red light house, Central Park, and then straight down Broadway until you hit the bottom of the island.
Bridges For Breakfast 17 Miler
For this 17-miler, you'll start on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn bridge, head over to Brooklyn and cut over to the Manhattan Bridge. You'll run up over the Manhattan Bridge and through Chinatown towards the Williamsburg Bridge. From there, you'll head up and over the Williamsburg bridge and down to the water. Head towards the Navy Yard and then to Dumbo, You'll run through Brooklyn Bridge Park, running all the piers, down through Red Hook, around Ikea, before heading towards 9th st. You'll run up 9th st towards Prospect Park before ending in Grand Army Plaza.

18 Mile Downtown Brooklyn to Upper East Side
This 18 mile route starts at Borough Hall and includes bridges on bridges on bridges. You'll head towards the Brooklyn Bridge and run into Manhattan, through Chinatown and back to the Manhattan Bridge. You'll head back into Brooklyn cutting over to the Navy Yard and towards Williamsburg. Then, you'll run through Greenpoint over to the Polaski, through Long Island City and over to Roosevelt Island. After a loop of the island, you'll run up and over the Queensboro bridge and end on the Upper East Side.
All 5 Bridges 19 Miler
This 19 mile route starts at Union Square and includes all 5 bridges (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Polaski, Williamsburg and Queensboro). So if you’re looking to build strength on hills and bridges, this long run is for you! You'll head towards towards the West side highway, down towards Battery Park City. You’ll run around the island before cutting up through the South Street Seaport and over to the Brooklyn Bridge. You’ll run over the Brooklyn Bridge and cut across to the Manhattan Bridge. You'll head back into Manhattan running through Chinatown towards the Williamsburg bridge. Then, you'll run over the bridge, down through the Williamsburg waterfront, through Greenpoint over to the Polaski, through Long Island City and up and over the Queensboro bridge. After a condensed loop of the lower part of Central Park, you’ll end when your watch hits 19 miles outside of Central Park.
20-Mile NYC Long Run
This 20 mile route starts on the Manhattan side of the Manhattan Bridge. You’ll head up and over the bridge, cut across Chinatown and the island across Canal to the West Side Highway. Then, you’ll run up the West Side Highway, cut across 59th street and run by Central Park towards the Queensboro Bridge. Then, you’ll run through Long Island City, over the Polaski, through Greenpoint and Williamsburg and up and over the Williamsburg Bridge. Once in Manhattan, you’ll run down to the Brooklyn Bridge, down Downtown Brooklyn, through Brooklyn Heights on Joralemon and down to Brooklyn Bridge Park. You’ll run through the park (no piers) and end by Brooklyn Ice Cream Company.
