Support

When I first started running, I was working in a Doctor’s office and my bosses all said the same thing to me: GET INSOLES ASAP. So I Googled insoles, saw an extra $50 price tag, and thought, “I’ll be fine”. A few weeks later, I was in the Doctor’s office being asked to take time off because of an overuse injury.

I’ve been wearing Superfeet insoles for YEARS and the support is FANTASTIC. The reality is, for most of us, our running is imperfect. From training to form, we need all the help we can get and insoles are a really effective way to find a little extra comfort, support, and minimize the risk of injury with a little more structure.

I’ve been running in a few of Superfeet’s other insoles for years and the ADAPT Run insoles don’t feel as structured and ultra-supportive as some of their other insoles which is a nice addition to their already diverse line-up of insoles. The ADAPT Run still offers strucutre, it’s just lighter than what I’ve worn in the past. I found them to be really, really comfortable and just supportive enough. If you’re looking for a flexible, supportive and comfortable insole, this insole is for you.

Price

Available for $49.95, it can feel expensive for something you buy in addition to shoes. I always thought that insoles were one of running’s best-kept secret because they can make such a huge difference. Pricey, yes, but very worth it.

Comfort

For these insoles specifically, comfort is where they shine. And that’s not to say that other Superfeet insoles I wear aren’t comfortable. The ADAPT Run insoles are really flexible and really comfortable. They’re still structured, so don’t imagine a warm hug to your foot the entire time, it’s more like a really comfortable, safe hug for your foot. Like a seatbelt. A COMFORTABLE SEATBELT HUG. (Does that make sense?)

Sizes

This is where they lost a star. While the insoles are available in a pretty wide array of sizes, larger feet (like men’s 13.5+) don’t have sizes available to them.

Women 4.5 - 6 | Kids 2.5 - 4 (B)

Women 6.5 - 8 | Men 5.5 - 7 (C)

Women 8.5 - 10 | Men 7.5 - 9 (D)

Women 10.5 - 12 | Men 9.5 - 11 (E)

Women 12.5 - 14 | Men 11.5 - 13 (F)

I wear a men’s size 9.5 running shoe (or a women’s 11 wide but I rarely get women’s shoes.) so in the Superfeet ADAPT Run Insoles, I wear a size E.

Ease Of Use

SUPER EASY. To get these insoles into your shoes, it’s simple.

Step 1: Take out the insole that comes in your running shoes and place them on top of your ADAPT Run insoles.

Step 2: Trace the outline of the insoles that came in your running shoes with a pen or sharpie.

Step 3: Cut around the traced line.

*I find it best to leave a little buffer around the traced line when I cut. That way, I can adjust as I go without cutting off too much. You can always cut more but if you mismeasure and cut off too much, you can’t put insole back.

Final Thoughts

Are insoles absolutely necessary? No.

Will they help you if your running and training are imperfect? YES.

Will they help you if you find that your feet ache from running? YES.

Will they help you find more comfort on the run and after it? YES.

For most of us, comfort is the name of the game, and finding it when it comes to running is harder than running a marathon.

RUNNING IS HARD. It just is. And if you’re training for something like a half marathon or marathon, you know that an imperfect training cycle is what you can expect. Not only have insoles been recommended to me by every Doctor I’ve ever seen, but they really do help you find some comfort on the run.

I’ve been wearing Superfeet insoles for years and I really like the new ADAPT Run insoles. They’re comfortable, supportive, and flexible without feeling too structured. It’s kind of like putting your car in that setting where it drives itself. Auto-pilot? Overdrive? I live in New York and don’t drive anymore but you know what I mean! The button you press and you can take your foot off the gas.

So there you have it. If you’re looking for an insole to provide a bit more support, comfort, and cushion, reach for Superfeet’s ADAPT Run insoles.
